On Thursday, Year 3 had an
awesome Stone Age day.
We all came to school dressed up as cave people; with
animal furs, bones and dirty faces! First, Freya from Squirrel class’ mum,
Becky, came to speak to us all about Stone Age archaeology. She showed us very
sharp arrows, pieces of flint and gave our class a special Stone Age book.
Next, we became scavengers and collected natural materials from the woods. We
used these to paint our Stone Age pictures. It was very difficult because the
sticks and leaves were not like paintbrushes at all! Then, we became hunters.
We found sticks we could use as spears and found out who could throw their
spear the furthest. After lunch, our parents came into school. We did lots of
different activities with them. We created cave paintings, and used clay to
make Stone Age pots and houses. Also, we built Stone Age people and tools. We
had a go at creating our own Stonehenge using junk modelling. We drew cave
paintings on the wall and painted our hands, just like the people did in the
Stone Age.
It was an amazing day; we had so much fun pretending we were Stone
Age people!
